Pet Sitting Guidelines and Policies

  1. Visit times: Aarf Home will visit at the requested times as closely as possible. However, if we are caring for multiple pets, the times may be shifted a little to accommodate our clients. We will do our very best to arrive at the appointed times.
  1. Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather, Aarf Home has requested on your contract the name and phone number of a person living nearby. If Aarf Home is physically unable to reach your home due to impassable roads, please provide us with this information so that we can contact this person to request assistance. Your pets' health and well-being is our utmost concern and we will contact you as soon as possible to keep you informed of these events.
  1. Additional Pet Care Assistance and Other Scheduled Services: We all want our pets to have all the love and attention they deserve, but please be advised that if there are other persons entering and leaving your home, Aarf Home can not be held liable for any damages or problems that may arise as a result. Please inform us at the time of the consultation of anyone who may have access to your home while you are away. This includes cleaning services, repairpersons, friends, family and neighbors. Aarf Home does not accept liability for other persons who will be in your home during pet care and health services.
  1. Medications/Vaccinations: Aarf Home will attempt to administer medications as directed but cannot be held responsible for complications that arise as a result. Excessively shy cats with medical problems can be a serious risk. If you have such an animal, this must be thoroughly discussed. Under no circumstances will Aarf Home service any pet that has any form of contagious illness. This is for the safety of other customers. Aarf Home requires that all pets have the necessary vaccinations and immunizations before service begins. If Aarf Home pet care provider is bitten or exposed to any disease or ailment received from the client's pet(s) which has not been properly or currently vaccinated, the client will be responsible for all costs and damages that may incur.
  1. Pet and house clean-up:Aarf Home will properly dispose of pet waste and do our best to clean up any accidents your pet may have. Aarf Home is not responsible for carpet/flooring stains created by your pet(s). We do request that your provide plastic bags, towels, cleaning products, paper towels, trash bags and indicated where you would like the waste disposed of.
  1. House Cleanliness: Aarf Home will clean up after your pets to the best of our ability. Please inform us of the designated area for the appropriate cleaning supplies. If there are accidents above and beyond the normal amount anticipated, Aarf Home will charge a reasonable fee for clean up time.
  1. Unforeseen purchases: Aarf Home will purchase pet food, litter, cleaning supplies or other necessary items that contribute to the health and well being of your pet while you are absent. We will retain a receipt and the pet owner is responsible for reimbursement of these items. In addition a $15.00 trip fee will be charged to the pet owner.
  1. Leashes: All dogs will be required to be on leash during outdoor walks.
  1. Other dogs: We will not permit your dogs to interact with strange dogs. If stray dogs that are off leash approach, we will do our best to keep interaction at a minimum and move away from them.
  1. Animal Behavior: Animals behavior can be unpredictable. Aarf Home does not accept responsibility or liability for animal behavior, normal or otherwise, which results in injury to the client's animals. Further, if anAarf Home provider is harmed or injured by the client's animals, the client/owner accepts full responsibility for the cost of any necessary medical attention required by either the Aarf Home Pet Care provider or by the animals.
  1. Fences: Fenced in yards are wonderful playgrounds for our dogs and allow them additional space to exercise and play. However, no fence system is totally secure. Aarf Home does not accept responsibility or liability for any client's animals that escape or become lost or injured, fatal or otherwise, when instructed to leave the clients animals in a fenced in area. This includes electronic, wood, metal or any other type of fence.
  1. Unsecured pets: Aarf Home will not be responsible for free-roaming or outdoor pets in the event of illness, injury, loss or death. It is strongly advised that all pets have some form of permanent ID and that they remain inside the home or confined to a yard or pen for their own safety and welfare in your absence. It is the pet owner's sole responsibility to 'pet-proof' any areas of the home and/or property to which the pet has access. This includes thoroughly inspecting fences, gates, latches, doors and other devices meant to contain the pet or restrict access to specific areas. Aarf Home does not assume responsibility and has no liability for any injuries the pet may sustain or property damage the pet may cause while in its own home/property.
  1. Privacy Policy: All of your information will be kept private and confidential. Aarf Home highly respects our clients' entrusting us with the care of their home and their loving pets. We do recommend that you inform a trusted neighbor that while you are away, Aarf Home will be caring for your pets and your home.
  1. Household Emergencies: Please leave the name and number of a trusted maintenance company or a person you can rely on to attend to any household emergencies that may arise during your absence. This includes but is not limited to; leaking pipes, malfunctioning water heaters and heating and air units.
  1. Thermostats: Please leave your thermostat settings within a normal comfortable range (68-78 deg F). If the house temperature is outside of this range, Aarf Home will adjust the thermostat. This is to ensure the health and comfort of your pets and Aarf Home during our time of service.
  1. 'Comfort Calls';: You may call Aarf Home between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. (EST) daily to check on your pet during your absence. Since we are often out of the office, please leave a message and your call will be returned promptly. E-mail, text and picture message updates are also available.
  1. Early Returns/Last minute Changes: It is not unusual for trip plans to change at the last minute. However, please understand that Aarf Home carefully schedules our time to service you and our other clients. Therefore, there are no refunds or credits for early returns or last minute changes to pet care. Once pet care begins, payment is due for the original dates scheduled.
  1. Cancellations: 0-48 hours, Payment is charged in Full(no refunds), 2-7 days, 20% of Service total is due(80% refund), 8+ days, No charge, refund in full.
  1. Payment: Aarf Home accepts cash or checks and major credit cards. Payment is due at the time of or prior to the first visit. Please make all checks payable to your personal pet care provider. Name: "DISEL INC"
  1. Returned Check Charges: There is a $35.00 fee for all returned checks.
  1. Keys: If you are not already doing so, consider letting Aarf Home retain your house key. In the event of an unexpected trip, you'l be glad you did. Keys are kept in a secured lock system and are coded for customer's confidentiality. If you choose not to have Aarf Home retain a key, picking up and returning your keys requires two extra trips and there will be a $15.00 charge per trip for time and mileage. A second option for key return is via Canada Post. To cover costs, the charge for this option is $4.00. Please check the key you provide Aarf Home.
